A Peak into my Sketch Book

I pulled out the pencils and micron pen and decided to play around and this is what came to "bee".

After I sketching out the bee illustration I stopped when I came to the wings, and thought I should experiment with mixed media. Embroidering the wings with fishing line created depth and a really neat visual effect! I'm inspired to try it with coloured thread next. I've been practising with self portrait sketches as well, to get back in the creative mode.

Gems on Show | Displaying you Jewellery

My parents returned from Europe recently and among the souvenirs they brought me was this adorable hand painted egg cup from Denmark. It's now my designated catch all for my day to day jewels.

Firstly, I have to mention these gorgeous candy pink carnations! They remind me of peppermints with their swirly fuchsia stripes. I just adore the coral hue combined with the aqua glass vase.

Jewellery is one thing that I love to treat myself to, as I've said time and time again. For that reason, I like to make sure I really look after it by religiously putting each piece back at the end of the day in my jewellery box. This way it's protected from humidity and perfumes which can tarnish pieces over time. Therefore I don't usually display my accessories out in the open. There is one exception though, each season I tend to wear certain pieces more frequently than others so instead of returning them back constantly, I like to put them on wooded display cones. I picked these two up from Urban Outfitters. I think they look really chic and minimalistic on my dresser. The natural rich wood grain really sets off the jewellery nicely and it's great to have my current favourites at my fingertips when I'm dashing around trying to get ready in the morning!

Turquoise + Lemonade | Summer Essentials

Nothing's more refreshing than adding a pop (or two) of turquoise into your summer wardrobe!

I can't get enough of this perfect summer hue. I mean turquoise is my birthstone (December) so it should be like my power colour or something right? I love these rounded triangle studs that add the perfect amount of cheerful colour, paired with this turquoise ring. I love the baguette cut of the ring because of how streamlined and contemporary it is for a stone that tends to be used for chunky bohemian looks.

Aside from jewellery, I've been enjoying a glass of lemonade whenever possible in this heat wave we've been having in my city. Sam the Cat is snoozing 24/7 in front of the fan we leave on for him and sunflowers have been perking up the morning as a bit of sunshine!

Pastel Peonies | Fresh Florals

I've mentioned in the past, that one of my favourite little ways to treat myself is by purchasing fresh flowers for our home.

I actually bought these gorgeous frothy, candy pink peonies from the little florist at the market a couple of weeks ago. I just thought they're too pretty not to share!

*Fun Fact: They're from the same florist who did our Wedding flowers! She always treats me to the most beautiful bouquets!
